Three Issues That May Be Causing Your Car's Air Conditioning System To Work Less Efficiently

Automotive Blog

Having a well working air conditioner in your car is important during hot times of the year. If you turn on your air conditioner and notice that it is not blowing air that is as cool as you would like it to be, there could be a few issues to blame. The following guide walks you through a few of the reasons why your air conditioning may not be working well in your car.

Low on Freon

Freon travels through the compressor in your engine to create the cool air that blows into your car during hot times of the year. Even the slightest Freon leak can cause your air conditioning unit to stop working efficiently. A mechanic can typically recharge the Freon in your car and find any leaks within a very short period of time.

Worn Compressor

If the compressor in your car stops working well, the vehicle will not be able to detect the differences in temperature and thus not be able to properly produce cold air. If you notice leaks under your car, hear a rattling noise you have not heard before, or smell an odd odor that is similar to rotten eggs when you get out of your car after driving, you may have an issue with your compressor. Through an inspection, any issues with a compressor can be found and repaired to get your air conditioner working properly again quickly and easily.

Worn Condenser

The condenser is one of the key components of an air conditioning unit in a car. Hot air travels through the condenser to become cooler. If it is not working properly, the car will not be able to make cool air. The condenser is made up of tubing that air is pushed through at rapid speeds. The tubing can become clogged and prevent air from passing through it. When this happens, a mechanic will unclog the tube so that the air can easily pass through it to be cooled.

If you notice any strange sounds, smells, or even smoke when you are driving your car, it is important to take it to get inspected right away at a shop like Import Automotive. Damaged parts in a car can cause other parts in the car to become damaged if they are not fixed quickly. It is best to have all issues addressed as soon as possible to ensure that your air conditioning works as well as it can at all times so that you can always be comfortable when driving.
